Drinking: A Community Concern” 6:30pm to 8:00pm
at St. Charles North High School on Red Gate Road in
St. Charles. Topics to be discussed include:
- The status of underage drinking and
prevention strategies
- Legislative initiatives to ban the
marketing of ‘alcopops’ to underage youth
- Meeting Kane County’s needs
for prevention, treatment, and recovery support services

Success for Renz Center
Renz
Addiction Counseling Center hosted a Million Dollar Hole
In One Shootout Event at the Highlands of Elgin Golf
Course June 23-26, 2005. Area golfers tried their skill
at qualifying Thursday through Saturday. The three day
qualifying event culminated on Sunday, June 26th, with
the Semi-Finals narrowing the field to 20 golfers.
The
twenty finalists were: Tom Anderson, Tim Banks, Bruce
Beu, Bill Boltz, Steve Cunningham, John Gilbert, Tom
Harle, Bob Johnson, Dick Johnson, Ralph Johnson, Liz
Kusper, Milan Maravich, David Milam, David Milner, Brian
Parsons, Anthony Pocius, Steve Stark, Mike Stewart, Dave
Thoren, and Mike Wolverton. The anticipation was high
in the finals, since Dick Johnson of Elgin , brought
his semi-final shot within 4 feet to advance to the fin
als.
At the end
of the competition, it was Tom Harle of Carpentersville (pictured
at left with Jerry Skogmo, Executive Director of Renz
Center ) who had the closest attempt, landing 10' 7" away
from the one million dollar prize. Tom received a Lake
Michigan Fishing Charter trip for 6 people on the "Midlife
Crisis", donated by Captain Gary Bouton and Elgin Super
Print. Other closest to the hole winners of various prizes
included; Steve Stark(2), David Milner(3), Dave Thoren(4),
Bill Boltz(5) and Tom Anderson(6). Steve Stark and Tom
Anderson are repeat winners in the top five from last
year.
